In our previous publication, the initial plan was to visit the renowned Stonehaven Castle. However, unexpected circumstances forced us to postpone this adventure. The day following our trip to Broughty Ferry, our small group, soon to become the core of our "day trips," decided to give it another try.

This time, luck was on our side, and the bus wasn't cancelled! As we embarked on a swift coastal drive, we arrived in the charming town of Stonehaven. Nestled on the east coast of Scotland, nestled amidst steep cliffs, it exudes a captivating allure. The Scottish weather, as expected, added to the experience, perfectly complementing the haunting ambience of the castle. From the town to the castle, located a bit further south, we embarked on a picturesque 40-minute walk along the cliff ridge. The landscape unfolded in all its beauty, a wilderness adorned with fierce winds and the crashing waves of the North Sea against rugged rocks. Gradually, the castle unveiled itself before us, a sight reminiscent of a scene from a film. Perched on its small peninsula, the ruins commanded the surroundings, showcasing the strategic brilliance of its chosen location, accessed through a singular path.

As we approach the entrance of the castle, we eagerly secure our tickets and embark on the guided tour. While only a few structures have survived the ages, the allure lies in envisioning the grandeur of what once stood. The atmosphere exudes captivating magic, with an impeccably maintained lawn adorned by weathered stone buildings. Roaming the premises, the sheer magnitude and historical significance of the castle become apparent, leaving a lasting impression.

As I depart, a spontaneous impulse drives me to test the capabilities of my drone. Despite the challenging winds, I persist, and the effort proves rewarding. I managed to capture some of my most cherished photos of Scotland!

Returning to the city along the same route, darkness cloaks the path with an even deeper hue. Upon reaching the town, a familiar yet disappointing sight awaits – the bus has been cancelled. Engaging in the deliberation of potential alternatives, such as trains or the subsequent bus, we ultimately opt to board the next seemingly operational bus. In the interim, we explore the city centre on foot and make a stop at a small supermarket to gather supplies for dinner.

Luckily, the awaited bus eventually arrived, and under the veil of darkness, we embarked on our journey back to Dundee. This impromptu overnight adventure has undeniably become one of my most cherished experiences! Additionally, it provided an occasion to bond with a smaller group and share hearty laughter together. Throughout this Erasmus journey, I've had the privilege of meeting extraordinary individuals who have become not only my European friends but friends from all walks of life.
